Congratulations 2016 ULEAD graduates!

On Thursday, Dec. 1, UNC-Chapel Hill recognized its newest class of ULEAD (University Leadership Education and Development) graduates. The cohort of 20 spent the semester learning skills and techniques for leadership effectiveness.

ulead-graduationThe ULEAD class of 2016 was made up of faculty and staff from UNC-Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central University (NCCU), and UNC General Administration (GA). The cohort was accepted into the program in March and continued their studies through the fall, meeting regularly to discuss a variety of topics, from Strategic Thinking to Negotiation Skills.

Graduates celebrated their success with a graduation luncheon at the Carolina Club on the campus of UNC-Chapel Hill. The participants selected their peer, Herb Richmond, from UNC-Chapel Hill’s Housekeeping Services unit, to be their student speaker at at the graduation ceremony. He was joined by keynote speaker and Carolina’s Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Winston Crisp.

The ULEAD program, which is supported by UNC Human Resources Organization and Professional Development, was developed to address core knowledge and skills required for effective leadership in an academic environment. The program includes classroom sessions, team projects, peer coaching and an assessment and feedback session for crafting leadership development plans.
