Financial Resources

The implementation of career banding is cost-neutral. There is no additional funding that is being made available by the State for the career banding implementation. The University merely changed from the old classification and compensation system to the new career banding classification and compensation system. Management will continue to use existing funding resources when making salary decisions under career banding.

In most cases, employees' salaries are not affected by the implementation. The only situation in which an employee's salary would change at the time of the implementation is if an employee's salary is below his or her new band minimum. If such a situation occurs, Human Resources works with departments to assure that the employee's pay is appropriately placed within their new band.
