Outstanding Encouragement of Learning and Development Award

CONTENTS

Statement of Purpose

Nominations are now being accepted through March 20, 2008.

In support of creating a campus environment in which all members of the University community are encouraged to pursue opportunities for learning and professional growth, the Chancellor's Taskforce for a Better Workplace has created this award to recognize supervisors who facilitate the participation of staff members in learning activities as fully as possible within the framework of an effective workplace.

One outstanding supervisor will be chosen annually and awarded with a plaque and twenty-four hours of paid time off.  The recipient will also be automatically nominated for a Chancellor's Award, in the category of Human Relations (has made outstanding contributions toward enhancing the quality of the workplace or creating a better public image of state government), which comes with a monetary prize.

Timeline

The award will be announced early each year. The award will be presented in April at the University Manager's Association annual meeting.

Eligibility

The OELD Award is open to both SPA and EPA managers who have had at least one year of continuous University service.

The grant is awarded annually and will include a plaque, 24 hours of paid time off, and automatic nomination for a Chancellor's Award in the category of Human Relations.

Application/Selection Process

Each nominator completes an Outstanding Encouragement of Learning and Development Award Nomination Form.  Nominations are reviewed by the OELD Award selection committee as appointed by the Chancellor.

Administration

The Office of Human Resources' Department of Training & Development is responsible for coordinating the program and administering the award on an annual basis.
