Workplace Wellness Certificate Track

CONTENTS

Overview

The Workplace Wellness Competency Track is based on the idea that healthy employees are more productive and effective in the workplace. This track is designed for those individuals wanting to expand their knowledge of the wellness field, make wellness-based lifestyle changes, and/or become advocates of a wellness-based lifestyle to the larger community. Wellness is defined as a conscious commitment to finding balance in life through the integration of body, mind, and spirit. Participants in this track will learn about five core areas of wellness, examine how they are incorporating aspects of these core areas into their work and home life, and how to effectively become wellness ambassadors to others.

The track consists of one core class and one elective from each of the five areas of the wellness paradigm, for a total of six classes. Courses may be taken in any order. All courses are offered annually, but may not be offered on every Program Guide. Participants who apply to the track must complete all coursework within three years of their application date.

To begin this track, complete the enrollment form located at the bottom of this page. Please begin enrolling in your courses at any time at www.training.unc.edu. Participants enrolled in certificate tracks will be updated about any changes and upcoming classes that may help fulfill their requirements.

Core Courses

As an introduction to the wellness paradigm being utilized in this competency track, all participants are asked to take the Workplace Wellness 101 course. This course will introduce the concept of looking at wellness through the holistic lens of integrating the social, physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual components of life.

Electives

Participants who take a cross-listed course must decide which category they would like to count it toward. Courses may not count for more than one category. If you would like to take a course from the Program Guide other than what is listed below to fulfill an elective requirement for this certificate, please contact the Wellness Track Advisor.
