Coaching and Consulting Services

Training & Development offers consulting and coaching services to departments, teams and/or individuals needing customized services. Training & Development specialists are experienced in dealing with a multitude of work-related issues, or can recommend external resources. Services may range from one-on-one to small or large group interventions.

While Training & Development's time and involvement in these services is free of charge, all other program costs are the responsibility of the requestor.

Typical requests for group consulting involve helping teams communicate, facilitating retreats, strategic planning, administering the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and customized training programs. Most one-on-one or group coaching includes work with management and leadership issues, work development and interpersonal skill building, as well as the administration of a variety of self-awareness tools such as MBTI, FIRO-B, and 360 degree assessments.

Examples of consulting and coaching needs may include:

  • Communication issues -- improve systems or methods to effectively communicate information, needs, expectations, etc.
  • Departmental classroom education/training -- topics vary from a wide variety of requests. Examples include customer service, stress management, diversity and policy training.
  • Leadership skills -- develop and maximize ability to lead people or projects, develop rapport with others, make effective decisions and gain followers.
  • Morale issues -- increase ownership of all parties being jointly committed to the success of their current process or project.
  • Retreat/meetings -- provide facilitation for departmental retreats, meetings and other stakeholder events.
  • Strategic planning -- partner to establish short and long term plans, goals and standards for individual and organizational success.
  • Teambuilding -- enhance workgroup dynamics, relationships, role clarity, accountability and their ability to perform at the highest possible level.

To request consulting or coaching services for you or your group, complete an Organizational Development Request Form or Coaching Request Form and return it to Training & Development. Forms are available online or by calling Verita Murrill at 962-9685.

A Training & Development specialist will contact you to review your request and conduct a detailed needs assessment. Goals and desired outcomes will be discussed.

Our team of qualified specialists then discusses the best course of action that should be taken, and will make appropriate recommendations. Once an agreement is established, program logistics and details will be established.

Please allow sufficient time for careful planning and implementation of your request. As there are a limited number of Training & Development consultants providing these services, resources and availability may be limited. A minimum one-month advance notice is needed to process all requests.
