Ending a Tar Heel Temp's Assignment

End Dates for Temporary Employees

When placing an order with Tar Heel Temps, departments indicate an expected end date for the assignment.  Departments must stay in contact with their Placement Specialist if that end date needs to be changed.

Temporary employees are limited in the time that they can work for the University.  Tar Heel Temps tracks the temporary employees' work eligibility and will notify the department in advance if the temp must take a break in service.

Early Termination of a Temporary Employee

If a department experiences poor performance or any difficulty with a temporary placed though Tar Heel Temps, the department must contact its Placement Specialist immediately.  The Placement Specialist will discuss the situation with the department so that a mutual decision can be reached.  If the placement is to be ended, the Placement Specialist will notify the temporary employee directly.

If the department would like to replace the temporary, the Placement Specialist will work with the department to find a suitable replacement as soon as possible.

"No Shows", Absenteeism, Tardiness

If a temporary employee fails to report to work, is frequently absent, or frequently late, the department must contact its Placement Specialist as soon as the situation is apparent.  Sometimes the temporary is ill or having other difficulties reporting to work and may have contacted Tar Heel Temps first.  Whenever a Placement Specialist learns that a temp will not report to work, s/he will contact the department immediately.  If the problem persists, Tar Heel Temps will end the assignment and find a suitable replacement for the department as soon as possible.
