Purpose
Carolina Kids Camp is a summer day camp for children of UNC-Chapel Hill permanent employees, UNC-Chapel Hill students, UNC Health Care employees, and UNC-Chapel Hill General Alumni Association employees. For the 2008 camp season, CKC will enroll campers ages 6-12 in eight one-week sessions. The camp is located on campus near Fetzer Gym and the Frank Porter Graham Student Union. CKC operates Monday-Friday, with drop-off beginning at 7:30 a.m. and pick-up ending at 5:30 p.m.
Campers will have opportunities to enjoy the gyms, playing fields, swimming pool, and other campus resources, including group visits to campus facilities and visits from special presenters. A variety of age-appropriate recreational, social, and educational activities will be offered. Snacks will be supplied during the day, but campers are required to bring their own lunches and water bottles every day.
The Carolina Kids Camp Summer Recreation Program is sponsored by the Office of Human Resources, Employee Services Department, with the support of the UNC-Chapel Hill Department of Exercise and Sport Science, the Frank Porter Graham Student Union and UNC Health Care Systems. The UNC-Chapel Hill Work/Life Manager and experienced full-time camp staff will help to make your camper's summer fun and memorable.

Eligibility
Parent Affiliation
Each camper must have a parent who is a permanent UNC-Chapel Hill employee, a UNC-Chapel Hill student, a permanent UNC Health Care employee, or a permanent UNC-Chapel Hill General Alumni Association employee during the dates in which the camper participates in the program. Parent affiliation will be verified using the PID via the University Registrar or the Human Resources information systems of UNC and using the last four digits of the Social Security number for UNC Health Care. Children of post-doctoral researchers and medical residents are eligible; however, children of Adjunct Faculty, Visiting Scholars, and UNC General Administration employees are not. Applications from parents whose current affiliations cannot be verified due to missing information will not be eligible for inclusion on waiting lists until appropriate supplemental information is received and reviewed.
Parent
Parent refers to natural, adopted or step-mother/father, or legal guardian. To confirm eligibility, contact Work/Life Programs at 962-6008.
Child Age
CKC is open to children who will be rising first through seventh graders in the fall 2008 school year. In general this includes children aged 6-12.

Program Costs
Application Fee
A non-refundable application fee of $25 per child is required when applications are submitted.
Note: Application fees are waived for University families applying for camp tuition scholarships. If a scholarship is not awarded, the $25 fee will be required for the child's participation. See Scholarship Opportunities section for more information.
Security Deposit
If your child is offered space, a security deposit payment of $50 per week per child enrolled must be received by Employee Services no later than March 28, 2008, at 5:00 p.m.
(For scholarship applicants, a Security Deposit payment of $10 per week per child is required.)
Security deposits are credited to each camper's tuition payment(s) and are not refundable. Security deposits for campers who receive space from a waiting list must be received by Employee Services within two business days after a telephone offer has been accepted.
Tuition Rates
Tuition is calculated based on the number of scheduled activity days per week. (The number of days in each week varies due to the Independence Day holiday.) Full tuition is required for each week attended, regardless of the actual number of days during the week that a camper attends.
Carolina Kids Camp tuition and fees are used for the costs of equipment and supplies, facility use, field trips, summer staff wages, camper snacks, etc.
Tuition Payment Schedule
The balance of tuition fees must be paid prior to the beginning of each camper's week(s).
It is important that payments are made to Work/Life Programs by the deadline. Your tuition payment confirms your camper's space in camp. Therefore, if your payment is not received when due, your camper's registration will be canceled. This policy allows other families who are on waiting lists to be offered unconfirmed spaces and have time to prepare for attendance. Requests for exceptions to this cancellation policy may be considered only in extenuating circumstances.
