(Teachers’ & State Employees’ Retirement System) How to Enroll

This half-day retirement workshop provides information on when employees are eligible to retire, how to calculate their payment and what other benefits are available in retirement. This workshop is ideal for employees who are considering retirement and want to explore their options. A member of the Social Security Administration Office of Communications team will cover all you need to know about your future Social Security benefits.

UNC-Chapel Hill provides faculty and staff who become parents, either by birth or adoption or foster-care placement of a minor child, with leave to allow for the healthy recovery of the primary caregiver, bonding with the adopted child, and/or a period of family adjustment. This workshop provides an overview of the parental leave process and addresses frequently asked questions regarding maternity and paternity leave such as, “How does FMLA work?”, “When and how do I apply for leave?”, and “How do I get paid while on leave?”

Course objectives:
  • Awareness of entitlements with respect to parental leave
  • Understanding of the process for taking maternity and paternity leave
  • Knowledge of resources available to new parents (i.e. benefits and work/life programs)

A one-hour lunch and learn. SHIIP – Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program will present information regarding Medicare. They provide information to compare Medicare Plans as well as long term care insurance.

They will be able to provide you with detailed information concerning the funds offered, asset allocation, portfolio planning, and investment options after retirement. The independent advisory firm that works on the UNC Retirement Programs, will be visiting UNC-Chapel Hill conducting on-site individual advisory sessions on February 27, March 1, March 2, March 28, March 29 and April 21 at the Administrative Office Building located at 104 Airport Drive, Chapel Hill, in room 1501-C.

Topics covered in the 45-minute individual advisory sessions include, but are not limited to retirement planning, general financial planning, debt management & investment education and advice.

These one-on-one sessions are offered to you solely as a benefit; be assured that CAPTRUST’s role is not to sell you anything, but purely to help you make sound investment decisions.
