It provides a pleasant, upscale environment for meeting colleagues and friends, entertaining guests and dining in warm and friendly on-campus surroundings. Located in the George Watts Hill Alumni Center between Stadium Drive and the Ramshead Center, the club is a gathering place on work days and game days. Carolina Inn

Affectionately known as the University’s living room, the Carolina Inn has been one of the region’s most popular sites for academic conferences, business meetings, weddings and other important events since it opened in 1924. The Inn is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and boasts a four-diamond rating from AAA and a four-star rating from Mobil. A favorite gathering place for work lunches and dinner before a show at Memorial Hall, the Carolina Inn is always full up on weekends when there’s a Carolina home football or basketball game. And Friday Nights on the Front Porch, featuring bluegrass music and seasonal food offerings on the front lawn, are a big draw for campus families and neighbors from across the Triangle.

Commuter Resources & Information

The University is recognized regionally and nationally as a leader in alternative transportation initiatives. UNC-Chapel Hill has been named a “Super Achiever” by Best Workplace for Commuters, an EPA and NC Department of Transportation award, received an “A” for our transportation initiatives from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s report card and received top honors for our efforts during Bike to Work Week. The ZipCar program at Carolina has served as a national leader in the promotion of car sharing services. Learn more about commuter alternative programs, carpooling, vanpooling and the local and regional mass transit systems available to campus at the link above.

Surplus Property Retail Store

University property considered unusable or unserviceable is sent to the Surplus Property Warehouse for disposal. The University Surplus Property Warehouse staff disposes of equipment and furniture through sales to University departments, sales to the general public, transfers to the State Surplus Warehouse, or recycling. For sale days and hours of operation for the general public, please go to the Retail Store Web page of Surplus Property.

UNC Dental Faculty Practice

The UNC Dental Faculty Practice is offering UNC employees and their immediate families a 20% discount on new-patient comprehensive exam appointments and the associated x-rays taken that day.  We are steps away from your office or clinic door.  You will be seen by the dentists that are teaching the future dentists of North Carolina.  Because the Practice provides both general and specialized dental care, each individual patient’s oral health needs will be determined after seeing a dental practitioner for a comprehensive diagnosis.  Call the reception desk at 919-537-3939 and identify yourself at a UNC employee.  Please present your UNC One Card at time of appointment.

UNC OneCard

The UNC OneCard is a multipurpose identification and online accounts card. Employees can use it for any on-campus purchases from Chick-fil-A to parking tickets. It is the official identification card for students, faculty and staff. The OneCard provides employees access to certain facilities and event and also serves as their campus library card. The Carolina Employee Express Plan is designed to offer all permanent employees of the University the flexibility to use their OneCard for purchases on campus and to have those purchases deducted from their payroll check each payday. This plan is available only to full-time or part-time permanent University employees.
