Counseling

Many of us deal with the challenges of depression, stressful relationships, or long-term physical ailments. The following resources offer confidential counseling, workshops and other means of support for your mind, body and spirit.

State Health Plan

If you are enrolled in the State Health Pan, the plan provides benefits for the treatment of mental illness and chemical dependency by a hospital, doctor or other provider. Your coverage for inpatient and outpatient services and office visits up to 26 visits. Coverage for services beyond 26 visits must be precertified and is coordinated through a Mental Health Case Manager. You can reach a Mental Health Care Manager at 800-367-6143.

Employee Assistance Program

From financial pressures to workplace stress and family dealings, life can be challenging. If you need help with life issues, the UNC Chapel Hill Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available. The EAP is a confidential counseling and resource program that is designed to help University employees and their families deal with both personal and work-related concerns.
