Directions to the Office of Human Resources

The Office of Human Resources for UNC-Chapel Hill is located at 104 Airport Drive, approximately 1.5 miles north of the main campus. 

Parking at the building is reserved for University employees with a permit; however, visitors may obtain temporary passes from the main reception area of the Office of Human Resources to park in the lot for business purposes. There are a number of visitor parking spaces in front of the building.

If spaces are not available near the building, there is additional parking across Airport Drive in the R1/R2 Overflow Parking Lot (see map below). To get to the Overflow lot (if you are coming from the main campus on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., formerly Airport Road) turn left onto Airport Drive then take the first RIGHT (the AOB is the first LEFT). The right turn will take you into the Giles Horney Building (Facilities Services). Continue until you see the R1/R2 Overflow Parking Lot to your right.

Chapel Hill Bus Route

• The NU bus makes the most frequent trips to and from Airport Drive.

From RTP/Cary/Raleigh via I-40: 

• Take I-40 West and Exit 270 to Chapel Hill. 
• Take a left off of the exit onto 15-501. 
• Then follow the directions as from Durham.

From Durham: 

• Take 15-501 to Chapel Hill. 
• Just after you get into Chapel Hill, there will be a fork in the road.  There will be a green hanging sign that reads "Franklin Street" over the right fork.  Fork right onto Franklin. 
• After about a mile, you will reach a stoplight intersection of Franklin St. and Estes Drive.  Turn right onto Estes. 
• After about 2 miles on Estes, you will reach as stoplight intersection for Estes Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., formerly Airport Road. Turn left onto Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. 
• The first right turn available on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. will be Airport Drive.  Turn right onto Airport Drive. 
• The Administrative Office Building is the first building on the left.  Human Resources is located on the first floor. 

From Hillsborough: 

• On I-40 East, take Exit 266 to Chapel Hill. 
• Take a right off of the exit onto Highway 86.  Highway 86 turns into Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., formerly Airport Road. 
• Continue on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. for several miles. 
• After passing through the stoplight intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Estes Drive, the next right turn available will be Airport Drive.  Turn right onto Airport Drive. 
• The Administrative Office Building is the first building on the left.  Human Resources is located on the first floor.

From Downtown Chapel Hill: 

• If headed down Franklin Street towards Carrboro, turn right at the intersection of Franklin Street and Columbia. (Spanky's is on the right of this intersection). 
• North Columbia forks; the larger portion veers to the right and becomes Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., formerly Airport Road. Continue onto Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
• The road will slope downward.  At the base of the slope with be a stoplighted intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Hillsborough St (to the right), and Umstead Drive (to the left).  Continue ahead on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. for another 0.5 miles. 
• As you near the top of the hill, Airport Drive will be located on your left.  (It is the last left turn prior to reaching the stoplighted intersection with Estes Drive.) Turn left onto Airport Drive. 
• The Administrative Office Building is the first building on the left.  Human Resources is located on the first floor.

From 54/Chapel Hill: 

• On the Hwy 54 Bypass East, make a left onto Manning Drive.  This is a large intersection with a sign that reads "The Dean Smith Center." 
• Follow Manning past the University Hospitals and turn right onto South Columbia Street.  (South Columbia is one-way at this point, but becomes two-way after the intersection of Columbia and Cameron Avenue.) 
• Three stoplights later will be the stoplight intersection of Franklin Street and Columbia. 
• Continue through the intersection and follow the instructions above for "From Downtown Chapel Hill".

From Pittsboro: 

• Take 15-501 to Chapel Hill. 
• 15-501 merges to the right with Hwy 54 Bypass.  Do not take the exit, but continue North.  Going into Chapel Hill, 15-501 becomes Hwy 86 / Columbia Street.
• Continue on Columbia until you reach Franklin Street, the follow the instructions above ("From Downtown Chapel Hill").

From 54/Durham: 

• On I-40, take the Hwy 54 West (Chapel Hill) Exit 273.
• Take 54 West for several miles.  You will go underneath 15-501, then begin up a small hill onto central campus.  Hwy 54 is renamed as South Road on campus. 
• At the intersection of 54/South Road and Country Club Road, take a right onto Country Club Road. 
• Follow Country Club as it curves to stop light intersection with Raleigh Road.  Turn right onto Raleigh Road. 
• The next stoplight intersection is with Franklin Street.  At this intersection, Raleigh Road turns into Hillsborough Street.  Continue straight through the intersection onto Hillsborough Street. 
• Hillsborough will curve down a hill to a stoplight intersection with Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., formerly Airport Road. Turn right onto Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
• The road will slope upward.  As you near the top of the hill, Airport Drive will be located on your left.  (It is the last left turn prior to reaching the stoplighted intersection with Estes Drive.) Turn left onto Airport Drive. 
• The Administrative Office Building is the first building on the left.  Human Resources is located on the first floor.
