Posting Jobs on Inside Higher Education

To post a job on Inside Higher Ed, you must first have an account.

To create an account on the site:

  1. Go to http://insidehighered.com.
  2. Select POST A JOB (on the left side of the page). You'll see our recruiter home page -- it has frogs and a duck at the top.
  3. Select POST A JOB $150 (green square) and you will be taken to the registration page. You will not be charged $150!
  4. Scroll down and you'll see "Not registered yet?" with a few blank squares. Go ahead and fill all those in. When you type in your institution name, be sure to type out University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. The system does not understand abbreviations and will not recognize UNC as the proper account name. Be sure to spell it out!
  5. Click Register and you'll see a "thanks for registering" message. At the bottom of the message you'll see an option that says CONTINUE TO POST A JOB. Click that option.
  6. You'll see a page confirming your institution. Select the institution and then click continue.
  7. Now you can select the duration of your posting (30, 60 or 90 days)
  8. Once you select the duration, you'll see the rest of the job form.
  9. Fill in the job title, job description (no word limit), and select your categories (you can select as many as you'd like).
  10. Select the application delivery method. If you'd like it sent through the mail, select paper. Then you'll be able to fill in the mailing address. If you'd like it e-mailed or submitted on your school's site, select E-mail/URL and fill out the e-mail field. Click Continue.
  11. Once you see a Confirmation screen (It says "Thanks for posting") you're all set. You will not see a billing screen. If for some reason you DO see a billing screen, select Invoice/Bill me later and click Continue. You will not receive an invoice; they know that UNC-Chapel Hill is on contract and is not required to pay for postings.

Once you've created an account the first time, you can come back to Inside Higher Ed and post jobs whenever you'd like. The instructions for posting additional jobs can be found below. This set of instructions omits the "create an account" portion and instead shows you how to log in using the account you've already established.

  1. Go to http://insidehighered.com.
  2. Select POST A JOB (on the left side of the page).
  3. Log in using your e-mail address and password.
  4. Select Post a job $150 (top left square) and you'll be directed to the beginning of the job form. Here you can select the duration of your posting (30, 60 or 90 days) Please note that you will not be charged! That's just the design of our site graphic. It's the same for contract and single posting clients.
  5. Once you select the duration, you'll see the rest of the job form.
  6. Fill in the job title, job description (no word limit), and select your categories (you can select as many as you'd like)
  7. Select the application delivery method. If you'd like it sent through the mail, select paper. Then you'll be able to fill in the mailing address. If you'd like it e-mailed or submitted on your school's site, select E-mail/URL and fill out the e-mail field. Click Continue.
  8. Once you see a Confirmation screen (It says "Thanks for posting") you're all set. You will not see a billing screen.  If, for some reason you DO see a billing screen, select Invoice/Bill me later and click Continue.  You will not receive an invoice; they know that UNC-Chapel Hill is on contract and is not required to pay for postings.
