Making Up Adverse Weather - Coding Leave in the Same Pay Period
Jane was absent from work on 02-11 and 02-12 due to adverse weather conditions. (The University was not closed). Rather than code Adverse Weather Leave, Jane codes 8 hrs of compensatory time off she had earned last November, and codes 8 hours of vacation leave. As a result, Jane does not code adverse weather leave, and therefore has no adverse weather leave to make up.
Jane's timesheet for the pay cycle looks like this:
| Date | NSPP | CSPP | Coded | Code | | Date | NSPP | CSPP | Coded | Code |
| 2/9 | 8 | | | | 2/16 | 8 | | | |
| 2/10 | 8 | | | | 2/17 | 8 | | | |
| 2/11 | - | | 8 | CT | 2/18 | 8 | | | |
| 2/12 | - | | 8 | V | 2/19 | 8 | | | |

Comments:
8 hrs of CT used 02-11-2003 (earned Nov 6-8, 2002) 6 hrs of CT remaining to be used by 11-08-2003. |
Each department is responsible for monitoring the adverse weather and leave balances of its employees.
Jane could also have used:
- Accrued Compensatory Time Off (see example)
- Accrued Equal Time Off
- Accrued Travel Time Off
- Vacation Leave
- Bonus Leave
If an employee does not have enough leave to make up their adverse weather time, remember that the employee has 12 months in which to make up the time. Otherwise, the employee would have to code leave without pay for the time.
