403(b) Universal Availability Notice
Required notice for participants in supplemental retirement plans
The UNC System requires this 403(b) Universal Availability Notice to be sent to all eligible staff and faculty regarding participation in this 403(b) voluntary retirement savings plan. The UNC System offers the UNC 403b and UNC 457 through TIAA as supplemental retirement plans. While there is no employer-match, employees can set aside contributions to these plans on a pre-tax or after-tax (Roth) basis. Each plan has its own contribution maximum. For 2025, the contribution maximum for either plan is $23,500 or $31,000 if over age 50. If you are 55 years old, you could contribute up to $31,000 in each plan over the year through payroll deductions. You can enroll or make changes to your supplemental retirement plans in ConnectCarolina.
Payroll deductions for 2025 health insurance coverage
Review your January paycheck to ensure that the health care benefit elections you made during the October open enrollment period are reflected with the corresponding deductions:

Please note that while deductions began in December 2024 to pay for January 2025 coverage, your 2025 State Health Plan election coverage is in effect Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2025.
