State Service Recognition
The University recognizes and expresses appreciation for the long-term service of faculty and staff (SHRA and EHRA Non-Faculty), both full-time and part-time (regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours each week) from across the University.
- The program recognizes employee service at five-year intervals.
- Eligibility for all service years (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55 and 60) is determined by an employee’s Total State Service Date (TSSD).
- Eligibility reports are run according to the calendar year – Jan. 1 through Dec. 31.
Five Years of Service
The Office of Human Resources provides eligible employees with a printed certificate to recognize their service milestone. Certificates are issued to the employee by their school/division HR Officer.
10 and 15 Years of Service
The Office of Human Resources provides eligible employees with a printed certificate. Certificates are issued to the employee by their school/division HR Officer.
20 Years of Service
The Office of Human Resources provides eligible employees with personalized Carolina 20-Year Society plaques and honorees are invited to the Carolina 20-Year Society Appreciation Breakfast, which is held in the spring. Plaques are distributed at the appreciation breakfast.
25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50+ Years of Service
The Office of Human Resources provides eligible employees with a printed certificate, and honorees are invited to the Carolina 25+ Service Appreciation Breakfast, which is held in the fall. Certificates are issued to the employee by their school/division HR Officer.
