The University values learning and education for staff and faculty and their families and offers waivers, scholarships and other programs to help with the cost of classes. The comparison chart on this page outlines the coverage and who’s eligible for our current programs. Student Fee Waivers | Allows waiving of student fees when taking a class at UNC Chapel Hill. This includes gym fees, student health fees, etc. | Yes Employee is eligible for this waiver |

Educational Assistance Program | Allows a department to offset the cost of an employee taking in-person or online classes at other schools or at UNC-Chapel Hill | Yes Only the employee can request educational assistance |

Carolina Family Scholarship | Need-based scholarship used for study at any accredited North Carolina post-secondary public institution, including any of the 16 institutions in the UNC system as well as local community and technical colleges. Only for children of UNC-Chapel Hill employees | No | Only children of UNC-Chapel Hill employees can apply |
Employee, Spouse and Dependent Scholarship | Provides financial assistance to eligible employees and their dependents pursuing an undergraduate degree at UNC-Chapel Hill.
