I’m Morgan Morrison, one of your Benefits Consultants here at UNC Chapel Hill, with a reminder about open enrollment happening September 30th through October 25th.

Aetna will be the new third-party administrator for the State Health Plan in 2025. The State Health Plan is a self-funded plan and the State Health Plan’s Board of Trustees determine what is covered, how much is paid and sets the premiums we pay.

The administrator, which will be Aetna beginning in 2025, simply helps to manage this plan. Most participants will see no difference in coverage and providers with the move to Aetna.

As one of the steps in the State Enrollment Portal, you will select your primary care provider through the Aetna link provided in the portal.

For 2025, you will receive new health plan ID cards with the Aetna logo.
