In recognition of Wednesday, May 10, as State Employee Appreciation Day, the Office of Human Resources at UNC-Chapel Hill is excited to announce a giveaway for UNC employees: Employees who wear Carolina Blue, then post a selfie and tag and follow the UNC HR Instagram account will be entered into a prize drawing.
Prizes
Winners will receive one of the following:
- Pair of tickets to the Sept. 16 Carolina football game against the University of Minnesota.
- Pair of tickets to one of the Fall 2023 shows for Carolina Performing Arts.
- Deluxe self-care gift basket.
How to Enter
Entering is easy:
- WEAR Carolina Blue on Wednesday, May 10.
- TAKE A PHOTO of yourself wearing Carolina Blue.
- Upload the photo to Instagram then TAG and FOLLOW @unc_hr on Instagram.
Contest runs 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, through 9 a.m. Thursday, May 11.
Employees can also enter the contest by using their UNC email address to send a photo of themselves wearing Carolina Blue to hr@unc.edu between 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, and 9 a.m. Thursday, May 11.
Eligibility
- Contest open to all current employees of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
- UNC Health employees are not eligible.
Rules
- Participants enter contest by posting a photo of themselves wearing Carolina Blue to Instagram and tagging and following @unc_hr on Instagram OR by using their UNC email address to send a photo of themselves wearing Carolina Blue to hr@unc.edu.
- Entries must be made between 9 a.m. EDT Wednesday, May 10, and 9 a.m. EDT Thursday, May 11.
- One entry per person (multiple posts/emails are acceptable but do not count as separate entries).
- The Instagram/email account to which a photo, including a group photo, is posted will be entered for the drawing. For group photos, only the owner of the account to which the photo is posted will be eligible for the prize drawing.
- Entries that did not meet the contest requirements will be disqualified.
- The Office of Human Resources at UNC-Chapel Hill reserves the right to change the terms and conditions without prior notice.
- By entering this contest, participants agree to:
- Have their photo(s) featured in a post on the Instagram account (@unc_hr) for the Office of Human Resources and/or on the HR at UNC website (hr.unc.edu).
- Have their name and/or Instagram handle displayed on the Instagram account (@unc_hr) for the Office of Human Resources in the case of a winning entry.
Winners
- Nine (9) winners will be selected.
- Winners will be chosen at random using an online platform.
- Limit one (1) prize to each winner.
- Winners will be announced via an Instagram post on the @unc_hr account and/or the HR at UNC website on Friday, May 12.
- Winning contestants will be notified via Instagram direct message or email message to their UNC email address, depending on entry format.
- Proof of employment required to claim prize(s).
- Winners have one (1) week to claim prize(s). Prizes not claimed by 5 p.m. Friday, May 19, will be forfeited.

To claim prizes
Winning contestants must follow the steps below to validate entry and claim prize:
- Send an email to hr@unc.edu from your UNC email address.
- In your email, confirm that it is OK for UNC HR to publish your photo on our social media channels and/or website.
(You can copy and paste this statement: “UNC OHR has my permission to publish my photo on its social media channels and website as relates to the Wear Carolina Blue Contest for May 2023.”) - Winners have until 5 p.m. Friday, May 19, to validate their entry.
- Winners will be notified of the specific prize after all winning entries have been validated.
UNC HR will email the winning contestants who entered via email submission.
