Below are summaries of the policies that apply to UNC-Chapel Hill SHRA employees in regards to separation from the university. Click on “Go to Policy” to read the full policy statement for each subject.

The University’s Office of Human Resources (OHR) offers career transition counseling services to eligible employees through Lee Hecht Harrison. Lee Hecht Harrison (LHH) has over 5,500 offices in 60 countries and is the global leader in creating and delivering career transition services.

The University’s layoff policy assures equitable treatment of SHRA employees when reduction in force becomes necessary. A layoff might become necessary because of a reduction in work or funds, abolishment of a position, or other material change in duties or organization. Although this policy does not apply to EHRA and student appointments, departments should consider all staffing resources when determining positions to retain.
