The Carolina Talent Learning library currently includes courses from departments across campus and new training is added regularly. One of Learning’s key benefits is that the training that you complete in Carolina Talent Learning is automatically added to your transcript. This makes it easier for you and your manager to track your progress toward training goals in your professional development plan.
Some of the courses you’ll want included on your transcript, like the Office of Human Resources offerings, can only be accessed through Carolina Talent (for permanent employees). You have two ways to access LinkedIn Learning, though. You can access it through Carolina Talent or through the ITS LinkedIn Learning site. The completed training appears on your transcript only if you’ve activated your UNC LinkedIn Learning account and then access the training through Carolina Talent. If you haven’t activated your LinkedIn Learning account, but accessed the training through Carolina Talent, then the training shows on your transcript but is never marked complete. If you completed training through Carolina Talent and it doesn’t show as completed on your transcript, please submit a request at help.unc.edu and attach your certificate of completion to the request.
For example, if you want to take a music production course as part of your job or a development plan goal, first make sure your account is activated (you only need to do this once), and then search for a LinkedIn Learning course from the Carolina Talent Learning search bar.
If you want to take that same music production course, but don’t want it to appear on your transcript, log directly into your LinkedIn Learning account by clicking on the “LinkedIn Learning Login” link on the Software Distribution page. Then, use the LinkedIn Learning search bar to search for a course.
