Dear HR Officer:

We are pleased to inform you that, effective Nov. 18, responsibility for faculty recruitment will fully transition from the Office of the Provost (formally Academic Personnel Office) to the Office of Human Resources (OHR).

As formally announced in May 2022 by Linc Butler and Lachonya Thompson, this reassignment will allow better alignment of resources within the various offices. As such, it is important to note the following information:

  • All recruitment-related actions submitted in ConnectCarolina and PeopleAdmin should be processed as normal. The PeopleAdmin workflows and ConnectCarolina configurations have been updated to reflect the new workflows to the OHR units. You will not need to do anything differently to ensure that your recruitment actions route appropriately.
  • OHR will bulk move applications currently in various selected for interview states to “Approved for Interview.” This update will be performed due to the volume of applications and to ensure timely continuation of critical business processes. To avoid delays, Department HR Representatives must continue to always verify selected candidates have been approved by Central Office before submitting Hiring Proposals.
  • A PeopleAdmin Faculty Recruitment Guide with definitions for new labels and workflows will be published in the PeopleAdmin HR User portal at “go live.”
  • A Quick Reference Card (QRC) and a Micro-Training Video for faculty “References” in PeopleAdmin, which is an automated functionality to collect letters of recommendations, can be found at ccinfo.unc.edu/peopleadmin/.

    Equal Opportunity and Compliance (EOC) will continue to manage the recruitment waiver process for all EHRA positions. In addition, EOC will continue providing search committee training.
