Open enrollment is the once-a-year opportunity for eligible staff and faculty to add, delete or make changes to their benefits plans. The changes you make during this period will go into effect Jan. 1, 2025.
What to know about this year’s open enrollment
- No rate increases for the State Health Plan.
- If you want the Enhanced (80/20) Plan for health insurance, you MUST opt into that plan in the State Enrollment Portal. Otherwise, all State Health Plan members will default to the Base (70/30) Plan for 2025.
- To avoid a $60 monthly surcharge, complete the tobacco attestation in the State Enrollment Portal.
- To have a flexible spending account (FSA) for 2025, you MUST enroll (or re-enroll) during the open enrollment period.
Two enrollment portals in ConnectCarolina
You will log in to ConnectCarolina Self Service to use two enrollment portals to make your benefits selections:
- State Enrollment Portal for ONLY the State Health Plan and tobacco attestation.
- UNC System Enrollment Portal for all other benefits plans.
