On Sept. 2, 2018 the University will be changing our medical plan termination rules to be in line with General Statute 135-48.44. Here is how the new rule will work:
- If an employee terminates between the 1st – 15th of the month their medical coverage will end on the last day of the month in which the employee’s employment ends.
- Example: Employee termination date is 9/5/2018, medical coverage will end on 9/30/2018.
- If the employee terminates between the 16th – the last day of the month their coverage will terminate on the last day of the month following the month their employment ends.
- Example: Employee terminates on 9/20/2018, medical coverage will end on 10/31/2018.
