From commuter resources and library access to sporting events and performing arts to fitness opportunities and Friday Nights on the Front Porch, Carolina’s employee resources and perks provide so many ways to enrich your Carolina experience and make every day a great day to be a Tar Heel.

One Card Perks

Your UNC One Card is your official UNC multipurpose identification and online accounts card. Your One Card gives you access to certain facilities, events, discounts and serves as your UNC Library card. Use it for almost anything on campus.

Purchases can be made by adding money to the UNC One Card before use or by signing up for the Carolina Employee Express plan, which tracks an employee’s campus purchases and then deducts the purchase costs from their next payroll check. This plan is available only to full-time or part-time permanent University employees.

To sign up for the Carolina Employee Express Plan, log in with your Onyen and password to One Card website and select the option to sign up for the Employee Express Plan.

Arts & Entertainment

The view is always changing at the Ackland Art Museum, the University’s on-campus art museum since 1958. The Museum organizes more than a dozen special collections each year. On a normal day, the museum houses more than 15,000 works of art featuring North Carolina’s premier collections of Asian art and works of art on paper — drawings, prints and photographs, plus significant collections of European masterworks, 20th century and contemporary art, African art and North Carolina pottery. It’s a great place to wander during a lunch break or bring the family one evening or over the weekend.
Carolina Performing Arts (CPA) is UNC’s official performing arts presenter, where you can find cutting-edge dance, exhilarating musical performances, bold theater programming and much more by acclaimed artists from around the world. CPA’s venues include Memorial Hall, located in the heart of campus, and CURRENT ArtSpace + Studio, a new studio and immersive theater space just off Franklin Street at the crossroads of campus and community.

Current UNC staff and faculty receive a 25% discount for CPA show tickets. To access this discount, use promo code UNCFS2324 online at carolinaperformingarts.org, or call the box office at 919-843-3333. Limit four tickets per person, per performance.

The Coker Arboretum, the William Hunt Arboretum, the Coker Pinetum and the Mason Farm Biological Reserve are included in the Garden’s nearly 600 acres. A nearly 30,000 square foot green education center was dedicated on Oct. 12, 2009 – University Day – expanding the offerings to visitors of all ages. The botanical garden is located on a plot just off NC Highway 15-501. Coker Arboretum and the Coker Pinetum are right on campus; great spots for a cobweb-clearing mid-day stroll or closer examination with family on off-hours.
PlayMakers Repertory Company, the Carolinas’ premier theatre company, presents a mix of both classical and contemporary plays in the Paul Green Theatre on campus each year, showcasing the talents of students, faculty and staff alongside visiting members of the larger theatre community. PlayMakers is the state’s only full-seasoned not-for-profit resident professional theatre. It is a program of the University’s department of dramatic art based in the Center for Dramatic Art, located on Country Club Road near its intersection with Raleigh Road.

Staff & faculty receive a 15% off the full price of single performance tickets. For tickets, visit playmakersrep.org and log in with your Onyen or contact the box office at (919) 962-PLAY (7529).
