We are pleased to announce a new resource available to you: the UNC-Chapel Hill Faculty Retirement Planning Guide. This interactive pdf is found on the Retirement Planning page of the HR website and assembles in one place the most retirement-relevant information for faculty at all career stages, from initial employment through the transition into retirement.

The Faculty Retirement Planning Guide covers a variety of topics including:

  • Catch-up contributions and beneficiary designations.
  • Implementing other retirement support like Social Security and Medicare.
  • Emeritus designation and maintaining your UNC connections.

With key advice from over 30 recently retired UNC-Chapel Hill faculty, the purpose of this guide is to help active and future UNC-Chapel Hill faculty members plan their individualized paths to retirement with clear direction and convenient resources.

The publication of the guide has been a collaborative project of the Retired Faculty Association, the Office of Human Resources and the Provost’s Office, and its content will be updated as needed to reflect applicable changes in federal, state, UNC System and UNC-Chapel Hill regulations and practices.

We are excited to share with you this helpful resource and hope that you will find it a valuable aid in your retirement planning process.
