Angela Lyght | Eshelman School of Pharmacy
As a Wellness Champion since the beginning of the program in 2019, Angela Lyght has achieved platinum status for her work as an Eshelman School of Pharmacy Wellness Champion, which includes being the Miles for Wellness Team Captain for the School since 2021 and leading three teams in the recent fall challenge.
In her role as Employee Engagement Specialist on the HR team in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Angela takes the lead in organizing monthly engagement events for faculty, staff and postdocs and collaborates with the School’s Well-being Committee and the Office of Organizational Diversity and Inclusion on at least two annual events for all UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy faculty, staff and learners, including the UNC-Asheville campus. Composed of faculty, staff and students as well as individuals from the UNC Medical School pharmacy community, the Well-being Committee convenes monthly to identify annual well-being priorities for all members of the School and the UNC Medical Center Pharmacy community. For 2023, a successful committee initiative was the implementation of meeting-free afternoons alternating every other Friday, which allowed time to dedicate to projects or other professional goals.
Last semester, Angela and the School of Pharmacy HR team hosted several events that:
- Promoted team-building with get-togethers like an ice cream social, Halloween costume contest, holiday office decorating contest and crafting activities.
- Connected with the greater community through volunteer opportunities and sending cards to residents of the Ronald McDonald and SECU Houses in Chapel Hill and the Rathburn House in Asheville.
- Supported personal care by hosting a self-care awareness event that featured yoga, chair massages, other mindful relaxation activities and healthy refreshments.
Angela and the HR team will kick off the new year with a “Getting More Out of Your 2024” event to offer a vision board creation station, journaling, fitness classes and volunteer opportunities.
Thank you, Angela, for all that you do!
