Carolina Club

The Carolina Club is a member-supported social and business club created for faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It provides a pleasant, upscale environment for meeting colleagues and friends, entertaining guests in warm and friendly on-campus surroundings.

Located in the George Watts Hill Alumni Center on Stadium Drive, the club is a gathering place on work days and game days.

Carolina Inn

Affectionately known as the University’s living room, the Carolina Inn offers 15% discount off the lowest available rates during 2021 (blackout dates apply). Guests must contact to reserve a discounted overnight accommodation.

The Carolina Inn also offers discounted rates for guests that bill the room charge to a PeopleSoft account or UNC Department.

Commuter Resources & Information

The University is recognized regionally and nationally as a leader in alternative transportation initiatives. UNC-Chapel Hill has been named a “Super Achiever” by Best Workplace for Commuters, an EPA and NC Department of Transportation award, received an “A” for our transportation initiatives from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education’s report card and received top honors for our efforts during Bike to Work Week.

International Travel Clinic

Campus Health Services offers an International Travel Clinic for those UNC community members – including faculty and staff – traveling to developing parts of the world. Employees can receive recommendations tailored to their travel itinerary accounting for immunizations and medical history, current medications, allergies, planned activities and type of accommodations as well as information concerning health risks in developing areas including destination-specific risks and prevention strategies.

The cost for this service is $75 for faculty and staff. Campus Health will administer vaccines recommended for your destination and medications to help prevent illness; those charges will be billed to your insurance.  These services can be provided for groups of UNC affiliated persons as well. Carolina’s campuswide library system has one of the premier collections in the South, highlighted by several revered special collections. These include the North Carolina Collection, the Rare Book Collection, the Southern Historical Collection and the Southern Folklife Collection. Employees may check out books at Davis, the Undergraduate and Wilson libraries in addition to 14 other library facilities on campus, all by using your UNC OneCard.

Password Manager (LastPass)

Do you want to control your online information and keep it safe and secure? LastPass Premium gives University employees free access to their password manager to make log-ins easier while protecting your digital identity and your online accounts. LastPass can tell you if your password is discovered in a breach, notify you of risky password reuse, and provide you with a score to help improve your online safety.

Optical Shop

UNC Optical is conveniently located adjacent to the Kittner Eye Center, which is located in the Ambulatory Care Center on the corner of Mason Farm Road and Columbia Street. UNC Healthcare and University employees may purchase eyeglasses through payroll deduction.

Surplus Property Retail Store

University property considered unusable or unserviceable is sent to the Surplus Property Warehouse for disposal. The University Surplus Property Warehouse staff disposes of equipment and furniture through sales to University departments, sales to the general public, transfers to the State Surplus Warehouse, or recycling.

UNC Dental Faculty Practice

Carolina employees with University’s MetLife dental plan receive in-network benefits from Carolina Dentistry.  Employees who are not enrolled in MetLife, receive a 20% discount on a comprehensive exam and radio-graphs for themselves and their immediate family at their first appointment.

Carolina Dentistry’s faculty providers also accept NC Flex through the State Employee Health Plan and all Health Savings Account (HSA) cards. As an employee, you may also choose to finance your dental care via payroll deduction.

UNC One Card

UNC One Card is the official identification card for University students, faculty and staff that can be used for building access, as a campus library card, and for campus purchases on anything from Chick-Fil-A to items in Student Stores. 

Purchases can be made by adding The money to the UNC One Card before use or by signing up for the Carolina Employee Express plan. The Carolina Employee Express Plan allows an employee’s One Card to track their campus purchases and then deducts the purchase costs from their next payroll check. This plan is available only to full-time or part-time permanent University employees.  

To sign up for the Carolina Employee Express Plan, log in with your ONYEN and password to our website and select the option to sign up for the Employee Express Plan.

UNC Student Stores Computer Loan Program

UNC Student Stores, in partnership with UNC Employee Benefits, Human Resources, and Payroll Services is proud to offer to full-time, permanent UNC employees, a Payroll Deduction program for the purchase of computers and tablets, with accessories, from the Tech Shop. This program will afford employees opportunities to purchase computers and tablets, with accessories, through one initial down payment and interest-free payroll deduction payments spread over six months.

UNC Student Stores Pharmacy

 The Student Stores Pharmacy provides a quick stop for students, faculty and staff to pick up prescriptions & over-the-counter (OTC) medications. The pharmacy accepts almost all insurance plans, including  State Health plans, and offers convenient prescription refill, using ReadyRefill online service and prescription-ready text messages. Upon availability, flu shots and shingles vaccine are administered, no appointment necessary.

Over-the-counter medications, such as Acetaminophen( generic Tylenol), Ibuprofen (generic Advil), Hydrocortisone 1% cream, pseudoephedrine, and allergy medications are available at significantly reduced prices.

Student Stores Pharmacy now offers free lifesaving Naloxone, which temporarily reverses opioid drug overdoses.  No prescription needed. More information.
